Ronald Reagan had his first job as a lifeguard when he worked at Rock River in Lowell Park, Illinois.
He was there for six summers and is said to have saved 77 lives from drowning.
Actor
Reagan started his acting career in 1937 when he signed a contract with Warner Brothers Studios.
He appeared in more than 50 films while he was in Hollywood.
Some of his most famous roles were in movies such as "Knute Rockne, All American," "Kings Row," and "Bedtime for Bonzo."
In addition to acting, Reagan also served as the president of the Screen Actors Guild from 1947 to 1952.
Governor of California
Reagan was the Governor of California from 1967 to 1975. During his time as Governor, he successfully ran for re-election in 1970.
He also set up many state commissions and councils, and spoke across the state in favor of smaller government and less taxes.

Reagan became the President of the United States in 1981. He served two terms in office until 1989.
During his time as President, Reagan helped revive the economy by implementing various tax cuts and deregulation measures.
He also increased military spending and gave multiple speeches about communism, which helped bring about the end of the Cold War.
